The inlet has a surface area of 48 square kilometres and closes seasonally. It’s 14 km long from east to west, and about 4 km wide. A sand bar isolates the estuary from the Southern Ocean for about half of the year. Through these three rivers you can view some of the most beautiful corners of this classic environment. The rivers are alive with bird and fish life, bordered by rich vegetation and contain many stories about our current and past cultural heritage. Some rivers are inaccessible in certain times of the year due to water depth and flow.
